The Top Seasonal Trends for Fall 2025

ree

Hello Arizona! As temperatures cool, or at least we hope they do, and our minds shift to thoughts of pumpkin spice, cozy sweaters, and classic fall photos with the family, its also time to think about preparing our homes for the holidays and envisioning how you want to decorate your space this Autumn season. While it’s true that we might not be able to make the leaves change around the city, we can absolutely transform our homes into a seasonal escape and a space to share fall traditions with loved ones.

We’re in the industry; we get it. The pressure to decorate each season and have an in style outcome can be overwhelming. To make your fall season a bit more relaxed, I want to share with you the top five trends we’re seeing this year for fall decorating. Our team works tirelessly to stay up to date on interior design styles in order to best suit our customers’ wishes. In our industry and across all architectural styles, these are the most popular concepts for 2025

Conveniently, all of the popular decorating techniques that are popping this fall blend together seamlessly, allowing you to embrace them all, without having to pick and choose. One common thread you will notice is that the flash of decorations is more subdued this year. We’re looking to accomplish more with less, giving our homes the feeling that they’ve transformed for the season, rather than merely been decorated. The holiday seasons are such a wonderful, sentimental time of the year  and spicing up your home is sure to add to the feeling of festivities as friends and family gather to share meals, tell stories, and make memories.

Trend One: Earthy and Moody Colors

Right now, we’re seeing moody reds and browns paired with earthy greens to create warm, contemplative spaces. If your home could use an overall touch up, early fall is a great time to paint so that your space is looking fresh for all of the holidays to come. For larger wall spaces, creams are starting to replace brighter whites as the go to neutral shade. These organic colors are calming and conveniently match a broad range of architectural styles.

Green shades in general and indoor plants have been popular for 2025. Plants and other bold green accessories combined with calm, earthy green wall colors such as olive, thyme and sage allow for an entire color palette and associated atmosphere to be created, rather than a single item-single shade look which can sometimes fall short. When creating a color palette, the variation of finishes can be just as important as the colors. Shiny and muted colors of similar shades can add depth to the color variety. For example,  shiny dark green magnolia leaves pop against a matte earthy colored wall.

We’ve also seen blue in moderation on the market a lot this year. While it might not be your go-to color for the living room walls, accents of sapphire and dark cobalt blue are eye catching against earth tone bases. Consider art work, centerpiece accents, bookends, vases, and various accessories that incorporate deeper shades of blue.

Not in need of paint this fall? No problem. You can easily incorporate these moody tones with accessories that can double as new year-round decor. If your home has fresh, neutral walls, a vintage-framed Air Force blue painting or curvy ox blood vase are great ways to warm up your home for the holidays while making your investment worth it as the pieces will keep your home feeling inviting long after the fall months have passed.

Trend Two: Understated Fall Decor

Classics of Autumns gone by, the pumpkins inscribed with “It’s Fall Y’all” and “gather” signs we all know might have been adorable in previous years, but they’re not hitting the mark this year. It’s been made clear that 2025 is all about understated fall decor. We’re looking for warm, seasonal colored items that aren’t strictly in line with Halloween, Thanksgiving, or fall. Think “pumpkin lite” and opt for an oversized pumpkin spice scented candle in a weighty mahogany glass instead of that sixth bright orange accent pumpkin for your living room.

Popular fall decor materials this year are alternative greens such as magnolia leaves, fall colored florals like yellow mums and red hydrangeas, and berries. Feathers are also showing up in moderation and they double as an opportunity to incorporate the also popular, vintage flair. These materials can be used to create leafy greenery for dining tables, monochromatic flowering vases and wreaths for front doors.

A hidden bonus of this method of decorating is that it can blend seamlessly with your day to day decor. For example, in a Southwest home, an arrangement of strong fall colored succulents paired with one or two well placed pumpkins or other fall specific items can cozy up a room without feeling over done. Once the holidays are over, keep your succulent garden up to enjoy. You can even exchange a few of the plants to change up the dominant colors when spring comes.

Trend Three: Biophilic Design

Similar to our previous trend of understated decor, it is officially “in” to be one with nature. Indoor plants have been incorporated as stylish decor pieces in multiple architectural styles, but the design world’s love of nature doesn’t stop there. We’re seeing organic elements utilized in even more creative ways as well, and when paired with the lush presentation of green foliage, the pieces come together to  truly bring nature indoors. The goal is to capture the natural curves and elements of nature.

ree

Popular elements have been bare branches, stone materials, and chunky wood items. Consider a simple, clay vase paired with white painted manzanita branches or autumn shaded florals, heavy stone accent tables, or even stone coasters for your current table, and natural textured wood candle holders. Keep simplicity in mind and opt for a few statement pieces over the addition of items everywhere they can fit. Prioritizing quality over quantity can be a great way to ensure your space does not become messy looking or overrun with decor. Your nature inspired pieces should feel like a part of the home and that they belong there, rather than having been placed inconsequentially.

Trend Four: Curvy and Modern Meets Warm and Vintage

A popular trend this year has been spaces that have an overall clean and smooth look to them with striking vintage accents incorporated, similar to the transitional design style. This combination has been a hit with home owners because it allows their space to feel new, open, and sleek while still harnessing the charm and unique character often seen in older spaces.

If your home is in need of larger furniture before family comes to town, look for flowing and curvy pieces with a modern flare in shades such as clay or cream, or consider something bold such as a mahogany leather chair or forest green sofa. These shades are great for the holidays but add warmth that doesn’t overpower year round, plus, the Art Deco elements and puffy, cloud like furniture are expected to stay in style and grow in popularity for many seasons to come.

ree

Even if you’re not in need of large pieces, you can still accessorize in style by adding a few vintage accents. We’ve seen old-fashioned decorative plates, heavy traditional gold frames showcasing nature inspired paintings, groupings of taper candle stick holders, and floral prints showing up frequently this year. Small changes can have a big impact on your space. The addition of a classic stained glass vase of fall foliage or berries, block floral or fall print napkins, and a few tapered candles in stand out holders can completely transform a dining room, for example.

Modern curves and clean textures can be interspersed with accessories as well by way of curvy vases and sleek table lamps. Just be sure to avoid going too cold in your textures or color.

Trend Five: Layered Textures

Speaking of textures, when going for a modern or contemporary styled interior, it’s easy to unintentionally end up with a mono-textured space. While sleek, smooth slates absolutely have a place in current design trends of all architectural styles, 2025 is all about layered textures and bringing warmth in. By this we mean mixing multiple textures, heavy, light, rough, and smooth, against one another to add depth to a space. Doing so not only warms up your home, but allows your personality to be expressed.

ree

Homes of few colors and textures are hard to differentiate from their neighboring structures, especially when they’re also of little originality. When you add textures rather than changing up large elements such as the cut and style of furniture, cabinetry, etc., you’re able to retain the popular architectural styles, while also bringing life, warmth, and unique, conversation worthy appeal to your space. This season, consider textures such as stone, velvet, and marble. These textures can be bold and on stage, such as a stone vanity, and they can subliminally add depth to your space by means of marble book ends. The key is to layer. Intentionally added textures should not be placed one by one throughout the house, but rather contact one another either directly or by visual appearance. Consider velvet throw pillows on a leather couch or braided candles on notched holders. Think of how your wall art’s texture compares, and contrasts, to the texture of its frame.

ree

Decorating for the holidays is a piece of cake when it comes to textures, as many items are easy to change out as frequently as you wish. Choosing to keep your items in place year round is just as well, since there are countless texture options that bring the warmth without the Halloween theme. Consider the textures of your accent pillows, living room tray tables, candle  holders, and throw blankets.

In summary, clean, curvy and moody spaces with a few well placed eye catching and slightly vintage accessories that could be in the home year round are the overarching themes for this season. Fall decor is great in moderation and carrying the seasonal colors such as calm greens and deep reds over into your home at large packs a double benefit of making your space stylish for fall and also in trend with 2025 styles in general.
